Gunmaking in my shop is accomplished by using a mixture of modern computer assisted equipment, traditional power equipment and the standard time honoured hand-tools of the gunmaking trade. Most all parts such as scope rings, safeties, sights and triggers for example are first designed within a CAD programs then proto-types are built to test function and reliability. The highest degree of perfection is realised in this method while producing functional, aesthetically pleasing and unique custom parts and rifles. Stockmaking is approached in much the same manner. Each stock is of unique design and dimensions expressly developed for the customer. |
First a
proto-type stock is designed and built as a "try stock" to check
again the functionality of the mated metalwork and woodwork as well as
"feel" "balance" and aesthetical beauty of the custom gun. When I am and
the customer are satisfied with the proto-type the final wood blank is
carved on a Hoenig & Rodmann pantograph. This of course is not the final
product and only after many hours of carefully executed handwork in the
metal fitting, finishing and checkering is the custom gun brought to
perfection. No the custom gun is not yet finished. The final custom gun is
thoroughly tested at my 100meter shooting range to insure that the gun is safe, reliable and functions as designed. |
